Are those issues still relevant to that media industry today?

Press Freedom

In the aspect of press freedom, based on a study by the Variety of Democracy Institute, in 144 countries, there are 96 countries used COVID-19 measures to justify significant violations of press freedom (UNESCO 2021). Since 2016, 44 countries have adopted or amended at least 57 laws and regulations that contain overly vague language or excessive punishments, threatening free speech and press freedom online (UNESCO 2021).

Personal Security of Journalist

Censorship, political and economic pressure, intimidation, job insecurity, and risks to the safety of sources are a few of the dangers journalists are facing. For instance, Benjamin Hall, a Fox News reporter, was attacked while covering the war in Ukraine and severely wounded, losing a leg and losing his sight and hearing (Jones 2022). As a result, they are under pressure from authorities and all sectors of society and are hindered in the process of investigation and reporting.
