I'd like to list some concepts and their meanings that make it easier for you to understand the related topics.

It refers to a political status in which same-sex marriage and opposite-sex marriage are recognized as equal by the law.

Marriage equality

Intersectionality

Social and cultural traits associated with males and females shape roles, behaviours and expectations around what it means to be a man (masculine) or a woman (feminine) (Arvanitakis 2016).

Gender

The interconnected nature of social categories such as gender, race, class, (dis)ability and sexuality that create overlapping systems of inequality (Arvanitakis 2016).

Sexual minorities

A sexual minority is a group whose sexual identity, orientation or practices differ from the majority of the surrounding society. Primarily used to refer to lesbian, gay, bisexual, or non-heterosexual individuals, it can also refer to transgender, non-binary (including the third gender) or intersex individuals (Sullivan 2003).

Homosexuality

It is romantic attraction, sexual attraction, or sexual behaviour between members of the same sex or gender. As a sexual orientation, homosexuality is "an enduring pattern of emotional, romantic, and/or sexual attractions" to people of the same sex. It "also refers to a person's sense of identity based on those attractions, related behaviours, and membership in a community of others who share those attractions."(Eric 2016).

Heterosexuality

 Heterosexuality is romantic attraction, sexual attraction or sexual behaviour between people of the opposite sex or gender. As a sexual orientation, heterosexuality is "an enduring pattern of emotional, romantic, and/or sexual attractions" to people of the opposite sex; it "also refers to a person's sense of identity based on those attractions, related behaviours, and membership in a community of others who share those attractions." Someone who is heterosexual is commonly referred to as straight (APA 2013).

LGBTIQ

lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer people (Arvanitakis 2016).
